Perge

Perge Ancient City was the capital of the Pamphylia region in ancient times and was on the Bergama Side road. It was used as a settlement after 4000 or 3000 BC. In accordance with the agreement made with the Hittites, they lived as an independent state during this period. When Alexander the Great, King of Macedonia, came to this region in 334 BC, the people of Perge allowed him to enter the city without fighting him. It is written in historical records that Caesar annexed Pamphylia to Rome in 49 AD.

There are two streets in the city of Perge, one in the east-west direction and the other in the north-south direction. There is a theater in the city that can accommodate 15 thousand spectators. The articles found in the theater, especially the sculptures, are currently exhibited in the ‘Perge Theater Hall’ in the Antalya Museum. Another important structure of Perge is its stadium, which can seat 12 thousand spectators, and is considered one of the best preserved stadiums in Turkey. The city has a rectangular planned agora, high towers, monumental fountains, baths and columned streets.

Saint Paul, who is considered one of the most important figures of Christianity, came to Perge via the Aksu River during his missionary travels, as written in the Bible.

Today, it is located 17 km east of Antalya. Perge was included in the UNESCO Temporary Heritage List in 2009.

Detailed information about Perge. It can be read on the page of the Culture Portal (kulturportali.gov.tr). PERGE ANTİK KENTİ | Kültür Portalı (kulturportali.gov.tr)

Düden WaterFall

It is located in Varsak District, within the borders of Kepez District. Düden Waterfall is also referred to as Alexander Waterfall and Upper Düden Waterfall in various sources. At the same time, there are people who call it Düdenbaşı Waterfall. Two large karst springs named Pınarbaşı emerge at the 28th kilometer of the old Antalya-Burdur road and at the 30th kilometer of Kırkgözler. These two water-rich rivers merge after a short flow and disappear into the Bıyıklı Sinkhole. The water lost in Bıyıklı Sinkhole, after going underground for about 14 kilometers, emerges from one end of the Varsak Depression, and after a very short flow, sinks again from the other end of the depression. The water lost in Varsak comes to the surface in Düdenbaşı after an underground flow of about two kilometers.

Detailed information about Düden Waqterfall can be read on the pages of Culture Portal (kulturportali.gov.tr) DÜDEN ŞELALESİ | Kültür Portalı (kulturportali.gov.tr)

2 events will be organized within the scope of the Conference Social Events: Those who want to participate in cultural programs must register using the “I want accommodation / I will participate in social programs” button.

Köprülü Kanyon

Köprülü Canyon National Park is 63 km northwest of Manavgat district of Antalya province and 85 km northeast of Antalya province. This region, which covers an area of 366,140 decares where the Köprüçay (Köprü) river and the historical city of Selge are located within the borders of Manavgat district, was reserved and declared as a National Park in 1973. The split valley formed by Köprüçay between Bolasan village and Beşkonak, which constitutes the resource value of the National Park, is one of the longest canyons in Turkey with a length of 14 km and a wall height exceeding 100 m.

Köprüçay, which originates from the Taurus Mountains and passes through natural wonder canyons, flows into the Mediterranean from the south of Serik. Köprüçay, fed by underground waters in canyons that are steep on both sides and almost impossible to climb, is one of the most beautiful natural recreation areas in Turkey. In addition, the ancient city of Selge, located in the mountainous land to the west of the river; Many archaeological resources such as castles on the banks of the river, aqueducts, bridges from the Roman Era and historical roads increase the importance of Köprülü Canyon. Among the resource values of Köprülü Canyon National Park;

– Fed by numerous springs in steep-walled canyons; Köprüçay River, which is suitable for rafting and water sports due to its high flow rate in summer and winter,
– B.C. The theatre, agora, temples of Zeus and Artemis, cisterns and aqueducts of the ancient city of Selge, which was founded in the 5th century; Oluk and Büğrüm bridges on the Köprüçay river and Koca Çay, and the stone-paved historical road connecting Selge to the coastal cities of Pamphylia,
– The largest natural cypress forest in the entire Mediterranean region, with an area of 400 hectares within the National Park,
– Adam (also known as Satan) rocks, which have very interesting geomorphological features,
– Its rich flora, which includes 48 rare and endangered species (44 of which are endemic), 5 globally endangered species, 39 European endangered species, and 4 nationally endangered species found at altitudes between 150 and 2500 meters within the area it covers,
– Rich fauna including Mountain Goat, Anatolian Nuthatch, the only endemic bird species of Anatolia, endangered Griffon Vulture, Black Salamander species that live only in this region,
– St. Paul’s Road, known as the road that St. (St.) Paul walked during his first missionary adventure in Anatolia, 45 km of which remains within the borders of the National Park.
Köprülü Canyon National Park offers many activity options to its visitors, thanks to its natural, historical and cultural riches. Particularly rafting, canoeing and canyoning sports on Köprüçay, one of the most important rafting routes in Turkey; swimming, hiking, rock climbing, orienteering, cycling, angling, etc. It is possible to participate in a wide variety of sports activities such as botanical-wildlife observation, geological structure observation, camping, photography, picnics, jeep safaris, plateau trips… Visitors to the region can also include the ancient city of Selge within the National Park and the St. Paul Road, a part of which is within the National Park, in their travel programs.

Detailed information about Köprülü Kanyon can be read on the page of the Culture Portal (kulturportali.gov.tr). KÖPRÜLÜ KANYON MİLLİ PARKI | Kültür Portalı (kulturportali.gov.tr)
