IEEE-UBMK-2026 was held in Istanbul from September 16 to 20, 2026, hosted by Istanbul Beykent University. A total of 550 papers were submitted to the conference this year. Each submission was sent to at least two reviewers with expertise in the relevant field. In cases where the reviewers’ evaluations did not align, the paper was sent to an additional reviewer. Consequently, the papers underwent a rigorous scientific screening process. The average number of reviewers per paper was 3.3. Following this selection process, 313 papers were approved for presentation at the conference. Five papers were not presented; ultimately, 308 papers became eligible for submission to IEEE Xplore.
The distribution of UBMK-2026 participants by country is shown in the figure below.
Among this year’s submissions, papers presenting the results of work conducted at R&D centers stood out. It was observed that the author lists for these R&D-based papers included academic personnel. One-quarter of the accepted papers originated from R&D centers.
The distribution of papers presented at the conference by topic is shown in the figure below.
Invited speakers Prof. Dr. Tuncer Ören and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Elif Küzeci presented on the topics of “Social Network Analysis and Graph Analytics” and “Ethics and Law in the Age of Artificial Intelligence,” respectively.
Three panels were organized at UBMK-2026. Prof. Dr. Mustafa Topaloğlu, Bora Üzüm, and Dr. Başak Ozan Özparlak participated as speakers in the “Artificial Intelligence and Law” panel, moderated by Dr. Serap Yağmur. Dr. Çiğdem Ayözger Öngün and Candide Öztürk participated as speakers in the “Daily Life – Generative Artificial Intelligence” panel, moderated by Ahu Tanrıkulu. In the third panel, the Chamber of Computer Engineers provided information on the topics of “employment challenges for computer engineers” and “internship issues for students.”
As was the case last year, a meeting was held this year to address the challenges faced by on-site R&D centers.
